Threat abatement strategy: Community and land-holder liaison/ awareness and/or education
Work with external partners to develop educational materials on the impacts and prevention of marine debris. High 
Threat abatement strategy: Establish management agreements with public authorities CMAs and land managers/owners
Examine the effectiveness and/or need for joint agreements with other authorities to specifically address the issues of marine debris and its impact on marine wildlife. Medium 
Threat abatement strategy: Prepare Statement of Intent
Prepare a statement of intent by 2008. High 
Threat abatement strategy: Research
Identify major sources of marine debris. High 
Threat abatement strategy: Review and amend or adopt existing legislation and policies
Support the implementation of international, national and state laws to regulate commercial and recreational boating activities to reduce marine debris. High 
Threat abatement strategy: Undertake control actions
Install gross pollutant traps on storm water drains. High 
Support marine debris clean-up and prevention activities. High
